Steps for MRU Halal Certification

STEP 1:  Client fills the Application Form :

Mention details about the company & products required to be Halal certified.

STEP 2: Application Acceptance

MRU accepts the company’s application and sends to the client the terms & conditions of the standards of Halal System.

STEP 3: Client accepts the Proposal and signs the Agreement

Client accepts and signs the Halal Certification Agreement and Use of Halal Mark undertaking.

STEP 4: Payment of Certification fees

Client transfers the agreed Certification fees to MRU.

STEP 5: Evaluation of the Ingredients/Raw Materials (Audit stage I )

Evaluation of the source & manufacturing process of all ingredients/raw materials/packaging material for traceability purposes, to determine their Halal status from a Sharia & Scientific perspective.

In certain case for additional traceability purposes, MRU may get the ingredient tested to verify its Halal status, if required.

STEP 6: On-site Audit (Stage II)

On-Site Audits shall be carried out by MRU auditors at the production facility. It’s a detailed inspection of the entire production facility, including raw material storage; manufacturing process; packaging/filling area; finished products storage; dispatch, to verify the compliance with the applicable Halal Standards, as well as the detailed review of all Halal Food Management System documentation.

STEP 7: Decision Committee

The Stage I and Stage II Audit Reports, along with the Corrective Actions & its evidences from the client (if any) are submitted to the MRU Decision Committee for final review and a decision on the Issuance of Halal Certificate.

The certification process takes approximately 6-9 weeks. The length of the process depends on the client’s actions and the time available to the certification body.
